the photos below are from an assignment i had to do for my digital photography class: a self portrait in someone else’s shoes. i was between prostitute or drug user, i wanted something hard so i could capture emotion. other people were assigned librarian, gardener, etc, which i felt was too mild. i didn’t want to capture a prostitute in too much or a literal sense, but instead of what the girl feels and goes through.
we needed 8 final prints, these are the ones i selected. the following are the titles of the photographs in order:
“break time”
“the date”
“untitled”
“true identity crisis”
“trying to wash away all the men”
“as clean as I can be”
“la souffrance (suffering)”
“stems/back out on the street”
it was a difficult, but fun assignment. i took all the photos myself, either on self timer, or holding the camera. the only one i got help with was the one when i’m standing outside the car. i set up the shot and my friend took the photo while sitting in the drivers seat.
nan goldin was my inspiration. if you haven’t seen her photos, i HIGHLY suggest you check them out. hope you enjoy xo
I am so sorry I haven’t updated since March. I have since traveled to France, Serbia, and many other places around the U.S., and those photos still need to be uploaded. My life has just been super hectic, thank you for staying loyal to my blog, they will be up soon! xoxo
